Character Design: Qalupalik

 The Qalupalik is a humanoid sea beast from Inuit folklore that would steal children from bad parents dragging them underwater to care for her own. She wears Amauti, a piece of Inuit clothing use for carrying young children, I really like this myth because it does not only focus on making children behave but also encourages adults to be better guardians and role models.

I started to design my creature based on a fish like human with a long neck and a gaping mouth. My further design gave her wriggling tentacles and a 'lure'. I felt like this these designs are not as strong as my other attempts on different creature so it was quickly abandoned.
